Tiowa Dembele was born in Mandjakui, the ancient capital of Bobo kingdom, today a small village not far from the city of Ségou. He spent his life playing for marriages and baptism ceremonies and he recorded his first album ‘ Tendoro’ in 1994. Tiowa Dembele is the owner of the musical tradition of Bobo, an minor ethnic group living primarily in Burkina Faso, with some living in the Ségou region. Bobo traditional music had a huge influence on the segovian pentatonic music, especially on percussions and balafon. He recorded the album 'Bwa', which is the name of Bobos language, just before his death, which occurred in 2020
